Mobile Internet Services snapped off in Kashmir

High speed Internet has been slowed down in the Kashmir Valley on Sunday, for the fourth consecutive day.

Nazeer Khan, a student in Srinagar said that high speed Internet has been slowed down across Kashmir. The 4G speed Internet is moving at the speed of 2G, which many a times goes off too.

Though high speed Internet service is suspended in the region on Independence and Republic day every year, the service continue to be suspended, after the twin civilian killings in Shopian area of South Kashmir.

The locals in Kashmir say that it has been a trend in the Valley that whenever any law and order tensions happen in Kashmir, the administration goes for snapping off mobile and internet services.

An official from the civil administration said that the move has been taken to prevent situation from escalating, which happens when people upload pictures and videos on social media of the unrest. Official sources added that it may take another couple of days before the internet facilities will be restored back.
