J&K Manzoor, who once worked as a security guard makes it to Kings XI Punjab

Hailing from Shigunpora, Sumbal village of district Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Dar, a batting sensation from Jammu & Kashmir, is the only cricketer from region to make it to this season of IPL.

Manzoor Dar, was among the three names from Jammu & Kashmir, who were approved by franchisees to go under hammer. Among others were, International Cricketer of the State, Parvez Rasool and Pacer, Umar Nazir

But this journey hasn't been easy for Manzoor. He had to wrestle his way through many hardships to support his family, to reach where he is today.
Soon after graduating from school, Manzoor, being an elder son of the family, joined his father in his work, took the responsibility of taking care of his seven younger siblings. Manzoor started working as a woodcutter for a paltry sum of Rs 60 (less than a dollar) a day, his father Mukhtar Ahmad Dar, a labourer, said. Later he worked as a security guard doing night duty in Srinagar's Fairdeal Complex, added his father.
But, this season, Manzoor, will play for Kings XI Punjab in this year's IPL. He was bought by Kings XI against his base price of Rs. 20 lakh. Soon after the news of his selection reached his village, residents couldn't hold their joy. His friends and relatives distributed sweets to celebrate this joyous occasion that has made the entire village proud.
"I am really thankful to Preity Zinta ma'am, owner of Kings XI Punjab and to the whole management. I will give my hundred percent to make you and the team proud", said Manzoor.
Former Indian Cricketer Mohammmad Kaif, hailed Manzoor's selection in the team, highlighting the sort of positivity this particular signing has spread across Kashmir. He asserted that if children start picking up bat and ball instead of stones, the atmosphere will become even more beautiful.
