SERUM INSTITUTE SEEKS EMERGENCY APPROVAL FOR COVISHIELD IN INDIA

The phase-three clinical trial of the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, is being conducted by the Pune-based Serum Institute of India on Sunday. In order to introduce an urgently needed vaccine against COVID-19 in India, SII, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer, has entered into a collaboration with the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca to manufacture the vaccine.

The economy shrank at a 5.32% pace in the previous quarter and grew 2.9% in January-March, its slowest rate in almost two decades. Southeast Asia's largest economy contracted at a 3.49% annual pace in July-September, the second consecutive quarterly contraction.

UMNO, THE RULING PARTY IN MALAYSIA IS IN GREAT TURMOIL

On Sunday Umno Malaysia's largest national political party's President said that Umno is open to working with all the political parties, including Malaysia's opposition to form a new government in Perak state. The announcement was made even after Umno's ally party PAS declared that they were against the idea of a coalition with oppositions.
