We have to provide proper guidance to youth: Khaunte

MAPUSA: Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, on Saturday, announced that the state�government is intending to introduce a Bill, if possible this Assembly session, which is aimed at banning the sale of agriculture land to non-agriculturist. The new law banning the sale of agriculture land to non-agriculturist when comes into force will help us protect our agricultural land and also ?Goenkarponn?, he added. The Minster was speaking after unfurling National Flag at the Government Complex at Mapusa, on the occasion of the Republic Day celebration. Addressing the gathering, Khaunte� said that ?in the coming Assembly session, we will be introducing an amendment Bill aimed at constituting land conversion board, comprising all concerned department officials, which will hold monthly meeting and clear all conversion applications on a monthly basis, under right to time-bound services.? He also announced that the state government will be also introducing GIS which will allow any individual to have access to information of the whole state. Stating that ?India will be the youngest nation by 2020, so, there is a need to empower the youth of the nation,? Khaunte said that ?our focus has to be the youth, who are the future of our nation. We have to provide them with proper guidance and direction so that they can go ahead and also take our state and nation ahead.? He informed that ?soon the labour department will be introducing employment smart card. This card will have all records stored in it, and one will not need to carry resume. This card will help the youth� in taking benefits of all the schemes of labour department and will� also record details of all schemes availed by them.? ?Government is constituting Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCW), which will work in the interest of construction workers.� Previously cess collected by labour department was not utilised, and so, this board was constituted, which will implement schemes benefiting these workers. Till date, we have got around 3,500 workers registered under it and our target is to register 30,000 workers by June-July,? he said. Speaking further, he said that ?after Odisha, Goa is the second state in the country to formulate startup policy, and has registered 57 startups. We have given four companies Rs 10 lakh grants and also salary reimbursement.? He also said that ?soon the tenders for IT Park at Chimbel and Porvorim will be floated, and we will ensure that all environmental standards are be followed. Tuem electronic manufacturing centre will provide employment to the state youth.?
