The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation on counternarcotics efforts, particularly in stemming the flow of fentanyl precursors to countries like Mexico before they are smuggled into the U.S. They also discussed collaboration in industries such as infrastructure, finance, and electric vehicles.

Lopez Obrador expressed Mexico's willingness to facilitate Chinese investments and work with China on multilateral affairs. In recent years, many Chinese businesses facing restrictions from the U.S. government have shifted their production to Mexico. Xi expressed sympathy for those affected by Hurricane Otis and assured Mexico of emergency relief supplies. The Mexican president later took to social media to reaffirm their commitment to maintaining good relations for the benefit of both nations.

Xi also met with Fiji's Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, where he referred to Fiji as a good friend and partner in the Global South, referring to developing countries. Additionally, he held talks with Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Xi underlined the importance of peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and common interests between China and these nations. These meetings come after Xi's four-hour summit with President Joe Biden, indicating China's efforts to strengthen its ties with countries in the Indo-Pacific region amidst growing competition with the United States.
