The White House has denied reports that the US rebuffed Canada in the ongoing dispute with India over the alleged involvement of the Indian government in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani extremist. White House National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson clarified that the US is coordinating and consulting closely with Canada on the issue and also engaging with the Indian government.

This comes amidst concerns that the Biden administration's efforts to strengthen relations with both India and Canada could be impacted. The US has called for a transparent and comprehensive investigation into the matter and has urged India to cooperate in the probe.

The allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have strained bilateral relations between India and Canada, with India dismissing the claims as motivated and absurd. In response, India has expelled a senior Canadian diplomat who is alleged to have been involved in anti-India activities.
