Ukraine and Russia at War: One Month On

It has been just over a month since Ukraine's counteroffensive against Russian forces began, and the two countries remain locked in a bitter battle for control of the disputed territory. Though both sides have reported territorial gains and losses, incremental advances are being made by Ukrainian forces, and the conflict appears to be far from over.

With Russia reportedly moving elite troops to strategic positions, Ukraine still in possession of the southwestern outskirts of Bakhmut, and both sides engaging in guerrilla tactics, the war is far from won. Meanwhile, both sides claim that the other is planning a nuclear contamination incident at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. With the situation still tense, and both sides preparing for an extended conflict, the war for Ukraine's future remains very much alive.
