Over 2,000 people have been evacuated from flooded areas in the Primorye region in Russia's Far East, following heavy downpours caused by Typhoon Khanun. The storm, which had already devastated Japan and the Korean peninsula, brought double the monthly rainfall to some areas of the region over the weekend.

According to the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, more than 4,300 residential buildings were flooded, and 28 settlements were cut off by floodwaters, with 16 districts being affected. Tragically, the floods claimed the lives of at least three people, including a woman and two children aged 10 and 12.

The city of Ussuriysk experienced the worst flooding it had seen in a decade, and nearly 5,000 buildings were affected in the region overall. Rescuers set up 13 temporary accommodation centers to aid those impacted by the floods.
