Turkey and Egypt have agreed to treat around 1,000 cancer patients and injured civilians from Gaza who are in need of urgent care, announced Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca. The patients and wounded individuals, who were initially reported to Turkish authorities, will be transported to Egypt via the Rafah border gate. Koca stated that the plan is to transfer cancer patients and those in critical condition to Turkey using air ambulances and a hospital ship.

Two Turkish ships have been granted permission to enter Egyptian ports and are on standby to transport field hospitals and ambulances. This initiative comes after the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship hospital in Gaza, the only cancer treatment facility in the area, was forced to shut down due to a lack of fuel. Turkey has been actively providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, including more than 200 tonnes of aid and a team of medical personnel.

They have also offered to set up a field hospital near the Rafah border crossing. Additionally, the United Arab Emirates has announced plans to treat 1,000 Palestinian children from Gaza, although the logistics of their departure from the enclave remain unclear. The ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza have led to an escalated need for medical assistance, and Turkey, along with other countries, has strongly condemned these attacks and called for an immediate ceasefire.
