Trump Jr. Postponement: Australian Government Denies Blame

Australia's centre-left government denied any responsibility for the postponement of Donald Trump Jr.'s speaking tour on July 6. Immigration Minister Andrew Giles said the visa application was handled in a standard and equal manner, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the deferral of Mr. Trump Jr.'s travel is a matter for himself. More than 20,000 people had joined an online petition opposing the visit due to his perceived anti-LGBTQ+ attitudes.

Turning Point Australia, the local version of the U.S. conservative political organization, had sold 8,000 tickets for Mr. Trump Jr.'s events and advised buyers to keep their tickets, promising new Australian dates for his speaking tour soon.

Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil had tweeted (before deleting) that Mr. Trump Jr. was a “big baby” and “sore loser” for blaming the Australian government for his poor ticket sales and cancelled tour.
