A tragic shooting incident in Holyoke, Massachusetts has claimed the life of a baby and left three people injured. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in the downtown area of the city, near the intersection of Sargeant and Maple Streets. According to authorities, the shooting began as an altercation among several individuals on the street.

A woman, who was sitting on a bus at the time, was shot and critically injured. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Tragically, the woman had been pregnant and during emergency medical procedures, the baby was delivered but unfortunately did not survive. Law enforcement agencies quickly responded to the scene, including state police, local authorities, and K-9 units. They have identified and taken into custody all three male suspects believed to be involved in the shooting. The conditions of the suspects are unknown at this time.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney's Office and the Holyoke Police Department. The public is urged to avoid the intersection of Sargeant and Maple Streets while the investigation is ongoing. Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia has been made aware of the tragic incident and is expected to release more details in the coming hours.
