Five people were tragically killed and eight others were injured when a Cessna 208 plane crashed into a hangar at a skydiving center during bad weather in Chrcynno, central Poland.

The pilot of the plane and four individuals who sought shelter in the hangar from stormy weather lost their lives in the crash. Two of the injured individuals are in serious condition, including a child, according to provincial governor Sylwester Dabrowski.

The incident occurred in the afternoon, and the victims were swiftly transported to hospitals in the Nowy Dwor Mazowiecki area by firefighters and airborne ambulances. Rescue teams are currently searching the hangar for any potential additional victims, as investigations into the cause of the accident are underway by prosecutors and police.

This devastating incident marks the most tragic skydiving-related accident in Poland since 2014 when 11 people were killed in a plane crash near the city of Czestochowa. Authorities suspect that poor weather conditions played a significant role in this recent crash.

The village of Chrcynno, located approximately 45 kilometers (28 miles) northwest of Warsaw, was the site of this unfortunate event. The plane involved has been identified as a Cessna 208 by Polish media, and the local fire department shared a photo on Facebook showing the tail of the plane protruding from the hangar.

Emergency response teams, including four helicopters and ten ambulances, were dispatched to the scene promptly after police were alerted to the crash. The authorities are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the incident and take necessary measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.

As the community in Chrcynno mourns the loss of five lives, thoughts and prayers are with the injured individuals and their families who are facing a challenging road to recovery.
