The roof collapse of a school gymnasium in Qiqihar city, China has resulted in the death of 10 people, with one person still trapped, according to state media. The incident occurred at the No. 34 Middle School in Longsha District on July 23rd, with heavy rain contributing to the collapse.

Initial reports indicated that 15 people were trapped, but rescue efforts managed to pull out 14 individuals, with three showing no vital signs. The collapse was caused by the illegal placement of perlite, a mineral with high water content, on the roof during construction.
