Siblings' Remarkable Act of Honesty: Returning $30,000 Worth of iPhones Found in Trash Bins Stuns Internet
In a heartwarming act of honesty, two siblings in China returned $30,000 worth of iPhones they found in trash cans, becoming internet sensations and inspiring others to do the right thing.
In a heartwarming act of honesty and integrity, two siblings in China's central province of Henan have captured the attention of social media after returning 30 new iPhones 14, worth $30,000, to a courier after finding them in trash bins at their apartment complex.
The incident occurred on July 7 when the brother stumbled upon the phones in two rubbish bins downstairs. Recognizing the significance of their find, he quickly called his sister to join him, and together they discovered a total of 30 iPhones in the bins.
Realizing the value of the phones, the siblings immediately contacted the police, who recovered one more phone from another bin outside their building. Police investigations revealed that the phones were accidentally left behind by a delivery person named Liu, who had unknowingly stacked five boxes, each containing 10 brand-new iPhone 14 Pro models, on top of the trash cans while arranging them.
When Liu realized his mistake, he was overwhelmed by fear, thinking he would never be able to pay for the lost phones. The discovery of the missing phones left him in a state of anxiety. CCTV footage showed that a cleaner discarded the five boxes two hours after Liu left them.
The cleaner confessed to removing the cardboard boxes to sell them later but was unaware of the value of the iPhones and left them in the trash cans. Mr. Liu's manager expressed frustration, stating, "She threw away phones worth 350,000 yuan for boxes worth 2 yuan."
In addition to the initial find, the cleaner's trash pile contained seven more phones, and four more were located after the courier station posted a notice near the bins where the siblings made their incredible discovery. The siblings have become internet sensations, with people praising their honesty and integrity.
Their act of returning the iPhones has resonated with people across the globe, serving as a reminder of the importance of doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. One person remarked, "They have literally saved the delivery man's life," while another emphasized, "Your hearts are more valuable than the phones."
This heartwarming story highlights the virtues that connect humanity and reminds us that honesty and integrity still exist in our fast-paced and materialistic world. The siblings' actions serve as an inspiration for others to do the right thing and uphold these values in their own lives.
