In a retaliatory move, Russia launched a missile and drone attack across parts of Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of six people, according to Kyiv officials. The attack followed a Ukrainian drone strike on a Russian tanker in the Black Sea near Crimea. Russia's barrage consisted of 70 drones and missiles that were launched from aircraft over the Caspian Sea.
The strike targeted the Starokostiantyniv area, damaging buildings and causing a fire at a warehouse. Additionally, the facilities of aircraft engine manufacturer Motor Sich in the Zaporizhzhia region were also attacked. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks, stating that they constituted a war crime and highlighted the ongoing Russian aggression.
In response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the Ukrainian "terrorist attack" and vowed that the perpetrators would be punished. Despite the attacks, both countries reported no casualties among their forces.
