Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Russian mercenary group Wagner, has made his first video appearance since a short-lived mutiny in June. The video, which was released on Telegram channels affiliated with the Wagner Group, shows Prigozhin standing in a desert area in Africa, dressed in camouflage and holding a rifle.

In the distance, there are more armed men and a pickup truck. It is unclear when or exactly where the video was filmed, but Prigozhin's comments and posts in the pro-Wagner channels suggest it was shot in Africa.

Prigozhin states in the video, "The temperature is 50 - everything as we like. The Wagner PMC makes Russia even greater on all continents and Africa - more free. Justice and happiness for the African people. We're making life a nightmare for ISIS [ISIL] and al-Qaeda and other bandits."

Prigozhin also mentions that Wagner is still recruiting fighters and that the group will fulfill the tasks that were set. The video is accompanied by a telephone number for individuals interested in joining the mercenary group. Since the mutiny, Prigozhin and some of his soldiers have been expected to leave for Belarus, according to the Kremlin.

However, some Wagner fighters have already relocated to Belarus and have begun training the army there. In late July, Prigozhin expressed Wagner's readiness to expand its presence in Africa. The future of Wagner and Prigozhin remains uncertain, but his video appearance and recruitment efforts suggest that the group is determined to continue its operations.
