Three people were tragically killed and several others, including a 2-month-old infant, were wounded during a recent shelling attack on the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson. The attack was carried out by Russian forces from positions on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, despite having abandoned Kherson and the western bank late last year. The local governor, Oleksandr Prokudin, confirmed the casualties and reported that the city's hospital and several homes were damaged in the attack. In a disturbing account, Prokudin revealed that the central part of Kherson was hit, resulting in two deaths and four injuries.

The harrowing scene included destroyed vehicles, a burnt-out ambulance, and severely damaged buildings. The governor also shared a video depicting the devastating aftermath, with shell holes, shattered windows, and piles of construction waste strewn across the streets. Furthermore, Prokudin informed that earlier in the day, a suburb of Kherson experienced a separate incident where a car was shot at, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of both a 2-month-old infant and the infant's mother. The targeted vehicle, now reduced to a burnt-out pile of scrap metal, had been carrying the family returning from a medical examination.

It is important to note that Reuters, unable to independently verify the reports, could not confirm the events described by the governor. However, these incidents reflect the ongoing tension and violence in the region, with Russian forces regularly shelling areas they had previously abandoned. The impact of these attacks on innocent civilians, particularly children, is deeply unsettling and underscores the urgent need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
