Prince Harry Wins Big: Court Rules he was Victim of Extensive Phone Hacking by UK Newspaper

Prince Harry has won a significant victory against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) after the UK High Court ruled that he was the victim of extensive phone hacking from 2006 to 2011. The court ordered MGN to pay Prince Harry £140,600 in compensation for the unlawful gathering of information related to his life. During this time period, MGN published 15 stories about the Duke of Sussex using illegal methods to gather information, including phone hacking and hiring private investigators.

However, the court also ruled that phone hacking was not the only method used for information gathering during this time, and that the prince's phone was only hacked to a modest extent. This ruling marks a significant moment for the royal family, with Prince Harry becoming the first senior member of the British royal family to give evidence in court for 130 years.

Following the ruling, Prince Harry called on financial regulators and police to bring charges against MGN and those who have broken the law in relation to this case. He emphasized the importance of a free and honest press, stating that "anything else is poisoning the well of a profession we all depend on". This lawsuit is just one of several that Prince Harry has brought against major UK newspaper publishers, including Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers and Daily Mail publishers Associated Newspapers Limited.
