Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda's recent comments about Indian businessman Sardar Pritam Singh have sparked a political storm in the Himalayan country. Prachanda made the remarks during the launch of a book about Singh, claiming the businessman had once attempted to make him Prime Minister.

The comments were met with strong criticism from the main Opposition party, the CPN-UML, who disrupted the National Assembly and House of Representatives meetings, demanding the Prime Minister’s resignation. Former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli said the Prime Minister's remarks had “given a blow to national independence, dignity, the Constitution and the parliament itself."

The ruling parties also expressed their dissatisfaction with Prachanda's statement, with Bishwa Prakash Sharma commenting that "the Prime Minister's remarks are worthy of criticism. His remarks are wrong.” Prachanda has since clarified his statement, saying it was misunderstood and taken out of context.

The situation has highlighted the need for caution in discussing sensitive matters, especially those involving foreign relations. Prachanda's comments have drawn attention away from the more serious issues the Parliament was dealing with and delayed the proceedings.

It is essential for politicians to be aware of the implications of their words, and to use political and diplomatic language when discussing topics of a sensitive nature.
