Poland-Ukraine Tensions Soar: Grain Ban Dispute Sparks Warning and Complaint Filing
x

Poland has summoned Ukraine's ambassador following remarks made by President Volodymyr Zelensky at the UN General Assembly. The tensions between the two countries have escalated due to Poland's ban on Ukrainian grain imports, which it claims is to protect its farmers' interests. The ban has sparked a dispute as the European Union recently lifted its own ban on Ukrainian grain imports in some member states.

In response, Kyiv announced that it would file a complaint with the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has warned that he will expand the list of banned Ukrainian products if the dispute escalates. The Polish foreign ministry stated that putting pressure on Poland in multilateral forums or resorting to international courts is not an appropriate method to resolve differences between the countries. In response, Ukraine called on Poland to adopt a constructive approach and leave emotions aside.
