Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has condemned the recent attack on minority Christians in Punjab province, stating that the interim government will not support "the forces of darkness" in society. During his federal Cabinet meeting, Kakar stressed that the Pakistani state and society do not align with such elements and stand firmly against extremism in any form.

He further stated that when one group is in the majority, it is their responsibility to ensure the protection of minorities, without expecting them to convert to their world view. Kakar acknowledged that the caretaker government does not have a perpetual mandate to serve the nation but expressed his commitment to support new initiatives and lay foundations for the continuation of national and international commitments.

The newly inducted Cabinet, tasked with running the country until fresh elections, will work towards ensuring financial discipline and providing a secure environment for the people. Additionally, Kakar condemned the violence by supporters of former prime minister Imran Khan and emphasized the importance of justice and neutrality in dealing with such incidents.

The caretaker government has also assured the Election Commission of all possible assistance and cooperation to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections in the country.
