Former Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's vehicle was attacked by an angry mob in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province. The incident occurred during Shehbaz's tour of the city to connect with the people of his constituency ahead of the upcoming elections. The mob intercepted his vehicle and reportedly criticized him for the deteriorating drainage structure in Lahore's Kahna area.

Videos of the incident went viral on social media, highlighting the public's frustration with the former premier's government, which has been heavily criticized for rising inflation and political turmoil. In response to the incident, Shehbaz met with representatives of the mob and listened to their concerns. He expressed his commitment to resolving the issues faced by his voters and assured them that their problems would be addressed. Shehbaz, who served as chief minister of Punjab thrice before becoming prime minister, emphasized that for him, politics is a form of worship.

Shehbaz's tenure as prime minister ended on August 9, 2023, and his government has faced significant criticism for its handling of the economy and the overall political situation in Pakistan. The upcoming general elections, scheduled for the last week of January 2024, are expected to be a critical turning point for the country. In a separate international development, Ukrainian officials confirmed that a Russian attack on a village in the northeast of the country resulted in the death of 48 people and injured several others. The attack, carried out by Russian forces, targeted a shop and a cafe in the village of Hroza.

Among the victims was a 6-year-old boy, further emphasizing the destructive impact of the attack. The incident underscores the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as the two countries continue to grapple with conflicts in the eastern part of Ukraine. The international community has condemned the attack and called for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
