Pakistan has strongly condemned India's alleged involvement in the assassination of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, calling it a violation of international law and questioning India's credibility as a reliable international partner. Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that India's "network of extra-territorial killings had gone global." Pakistan has also accused India's intelligence agency, RAW, of being actively involved in abductions and assassinations in South Asia, with Pakistan being a target of these activities.
Baloch referred to previous incidents, such as the Lahore attack in June 2021, where Pakistan released a dossier providing evidence of India's involvement. Foreign Secretary Cyrus Qazi affirmed that Pakistan was not surprised by Canada's accusation and urged the international community to recognize India's true nature. He cited India's track record of sponsoring terrorism and highlighted the confession of Indian military officer Kulbhushan Jadhav as evidence of India's involvement in terrorism and sabotage in Pakistan.
The ongoing dispute between India and Canada over Nijjar's killing has strained bilateral relations. Canada has accused India of involvement, prompting India to dismiss the allegation as absurd. Both countries have expelled each other's diplomats. The Sikh community in Pakistan held a protest against Nijjar's killing, urging the international community to hold India accountable.
