Pakistan President Alvi Exposes Shocking Conspiracy: Bills Passed Without His Consent

Pakistan President Arif Alvi has made a startling revelation, claiming that two bills were passed by his staff without his consent. The bills in question are the Official Secrets (Amendment) Bill and the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill, both of which have now become laws in the country.

In a post on social media platform X, President Alvi wrote, "As God is my witness, I did not sign Official Secrets Amendment Bill 2023 & Pakistan Army Amendment Bill 2023 as I disagreed with these laws. I asked my staff to return the bills unsigned within the stipulated time to make them ineffective. I confirmed from them many times whether they have been returned & was assured that they were.

However, I have found out today that my staff undermined my will and command. As Allah knows all, He will forgive Insh Allah. But I ask forgiveness from those who will be affected." The bills had already faced criticism before reaching the president for approval. After receiving approval from the National Assembly, they were presented in the Senate and faced further scrutiny from treasury members.

The bills were then referred to the standing committee for review. However, after some amendments were made, they were re-presented in the Senate and ultimately passed. This decision was met with disapproval from both ruling and opposition legislators. The Official Secrets (Amendment) Bill introduces new offenses, such as intentionally creating public disorder or acting against the state.

It also penalizes those who attack or damage prohibited places with the intent to benefit the enemy. On the other hand, the Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill imposes restrictions on military personnel's political activities after retirement, resignation, or dismissal.

It also includes provisions for punishing anyone who defames or spreads hatred against the army with imprisonment and a fine. President Alvi's revelation has caused a stir within his own party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Prominent figures within the PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Imran Khan, have already faced legal action under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly disclosing diplomatic cypher contents for political advantages. The PTI has expressed deep concern over President Alvi's tweet, calling it "unusual, alarming, and unimaginable."

Legal and political experts argue that an apology from the president is not enough, and he should take legal action against his staff. The passage of these bills and the subsequent controversy highlight the politically volatile situation in Pakistan. It remains to be seen how President Alvi's revelations will affect the implementation and ramifications of these laws.
