Islamabad, Dec 12 - Pakistan has summoned the Afghan Chargé d'Affaires and delivered a strong demarche to the interim Taliban government following a deadly attack on a military check post in the restive northwest region. According to reports, a little-known outfit called Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP) claimed responsibility for the attack in Darban areas of Dera Ismail Khan district, which resulted in the death of at least 23 soldiers.
The Foreign Office stated that the Foreign Secretary summoned the Afghan interim government representative to convey Pakistan's strong demarche in response to the terrorist attack. Pakistan demanded that the Afghan government fully investigate and take stern action against the perpetrators, publicly condemn the incident, and apprehend and hand over the attackers and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leadership in Afghanistan. Pakistan also called on Afghanistan to take measures to prevent the use of its soil for terrorism against Pakistan.
