Pakistan Army chief General Syed Asim Munir has reiterated the commitment to take action against a range of illegal activities in order to control economic losses. He made these remarks during a visit to Karachi where he attended a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee. The army chief was briefed on various issues, including the repatriation of illegal foreigners, measures to regularize foreign currency, and the security of foreign nationals involved in projects such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

General Munir emphasized the need for synergy among all relevant departments for the success of these initiatives. The government's efforts to crack down on illegal immigrants, particularly Afghan nationals, have also intensified. Police have reportedly started raiding Afghan refugee camps and deporting families who do not possess valid legal documentation.

Makeshift Afghan refugee camps in Islamabad and other major cities have also been demolished, leaving no choice for Afghans but to leave the country. At least 503 Afghan refugees have been sent to jail for failing to provide required legal documents. Despite criticism from the Afghan interim government, Pakistan shows no signs of relaxing its stance on illegal residents.
