Pakistan has accused India of violating international law and the UN principle of state sovereignty after a Sikh activist was allegedly assassinated on Canadian soil. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mumtaz Zehra Baloch, stated that India's actions call into question its reliability as a credible international partner. She further claimed that India's network of extra-territorial killings has now gone global. Pakistan's Foreign Secretary, Cyrus Qazi, said that Islamabad is not surprised by Canada's allegations and urged the international community to recognize India's true nature.

Canada has expelled India's top intelligence agent from the country, and in response, India has ordered a Canadian diplomat in New Delhi to leave within five days. The United States, Australia, and New Zealand have expressed concern over the allegations made by Canada. Sikh community members in Lahore have held a protest demonstration against the killing, calling for India to be held accountable.

The Indian government denies the allegations and has demanded that Canada take legal action against anti-India elements on its soil. In 2016, an Indian military officer, Kulbhushan Jadhav, confessed to his involvement in terror activities in Pakistan. Foreign Secretary Syrus Qazi said that Pakistan is not surprised by Canada's accusations and highlighted India's alleged track record of destabilizing activities in Pakistan. He emphasized that Pakistan has the capacity and will to defend itself against India.
