The situation in Afghanistan has been labeled as a deep-rooted crisis with far-reaching consequences for the region, including the threat of terrorism and the influx of refugees and displaced people, according to Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian. Speaking at a meeting of the Asian Crisis Council, Abdollahian highlighted the concern over the persistence and expansion of terrorism in the region, stemming from foreign policies and interventions.

This sentiment has been echoed by Afghanistan's neighboring nations, including Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, who have expressed their concerns about the spread of terrorism in the country. In August, Pakistan People's Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that Pakistan has the right to act in self-defense under international law if the Taliban fails to take action against terrorists hiding in Afghanistan.

However, he emphasized that this should not be the first option and reminded Afghanistan about the commitments made in the Doha Accord, where the Taliban assured that terrorist groups would not be permitted in Afghanistan and would not attack other countries. Bhutto Zardari's statement came in response to a suicide blast targeted at a workers convention in Bajaur, claimed by the terrorist group ISIS based in Afghanistan. Bhutto Zardari further stressed the need for the Taliban to take action against terrorist groups like the outlawed TTP that have been carrying out attacks in Pakistan. He expressed his hope for an appropriate response from the Taliban, but warned that if repeated attacks continue without a suitable reaction, Pakistan might be forced to take action within Afghanistan.

However, he emphasized that this should not be the first option for Pakistan. In a video message, Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Taliban, assured that Afghanistan would not be used against any country. This commitment is in line with the promises made in the Doha Accord. The concerns raised by Iran, Pakistan, and other neighboring countries highlight the urgent need for addressing the terrorism crisis in Afghanistan. The persistence of terrorism in the region poses a significant threat not only to Afghanistan but also to the neighboring nations and the world at large. It is crucial for all parties involved to work together to combat terrorism and ensure regional stability and security.
