Nawaz Sharif to Make Dramatic Return: PML-N Leader Set to Lead Partys Election Campaign After Exile in London
x

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, who has been living in self-imposed exile in London since November 2019, is set to return to Pakistan on October 21 to lead the party's political campaign in the upcoming elections. His younger brother and former prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, made the announcement after a meeting of the PML-N's top leadership in London. During the meeting, the party's strategy for the election, Nawaz's return, and the Pakistan Peoples Party's stance on the elections were discussed.

The meeting was attended by prominent PML-N members, including Suleman Shehbaz, Hassan Nawaz, Khawaja Asif, Malik Mohammad Ahmed Khan, and Nasir Janjua. This decision comes after Nawaz himself confirmed his return to Pakistan during a gathering with party workers and supporters. Shehbaz had also earlier stated that his brother would be returning in October. However, it is important to note that Nawaz Sharif was disqualified for life by the Pakistan Supreme Court in 2017 for failing to declare a receivable salary. Moreover, he was convicted in the Al-Azizia Mills and Avenfield corruption cases in 2018 and served a seven-year imprisonment before being allowed to travel to London on "medical grounds."

Nevertheless, the PML-N leader will face the law of the land upon his return to Pakistan. As per Shehbaz's statement, Nawaz will not only lead the party's election campaign but will also confront any legal proceedings that may arise. The announcement of Nawaz's return has sparked speculation and anticipation, with the PML-N planning a grand welcome for their party founder. It remains to be seen what impact his presence will have on the upcoming elections and the overall political landscape of Pakistan. In conclusion, Nawaz Sharif's return to Pakistan after his self-imposed exile in London is expected to shape the political scenario in the country. As he takes the lead in the PML-N's election campaign, all eyes will be on his arrival and the subsequent developments in the coming weeks.
