A Navy plane flying in rainy weather overshot a runway and splashed into Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii on Monday, but all nine individuals on board were uninjured. The incident occurred at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, and while the cause of the accident is unknown, rescue operations were quickly called off as it appears that all parties involved were safely rescued.

The P-8A aircraft, belonging to the Skinny Dragons of Patrol Squadron 4 stationed at Whidbey Island in Washington state, is often used for submarine hunting, reconnaissance, and intelligence gathering. Manufactured by Boeing, the P-8A shares many parts with the commercial jet Boeing 737. The base is located on Kaneohe Bay, known for its coral reefs and marine biology research institute. Marine Corps Base Hawaii is one of several key military installations on Oahu and houses approximately 9,300 military personnel and 5,100 family members.
