After Communist Party of India MP Binoy Viswam expressed concern over the safety and security of Indian workers being sent to Israel, he has written to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, urging him to ensure social security and generous insurance provisions for the workers. The Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments have invited applications from construction workers for job openings in Israel, with plans to send at least 10,000 workers to the conflict-hit nation. Viswam highlighted the lack of basic protection measures such as insurance and medical coverage for these workers, who will be engaged mostly in low-paying jobs, putting their lives and social security at risk.

The MP from Kerala also pointed out the neglect of norms relating to workers' migration, such as the necessity to register on the e-Migrate portal. He criticized the move as a failure in generating meaningful employment in the country and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to register a protest against the reports of 1,00,000 Indian workers being sent to Israel as a countermeasure to the displacement of 90,000 Palestinians due to the ongoing conflict. The safety and well-being of Indian workers must be a top priority in any decision-making regarding employment opportunities abroad.
