Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine in retaliation for a Ukrainian attack on a Russian tanker, resulting in six deaths and multiple injuries, according to officials in Kyiv. The attack involved 70 drones and missiles launched from aircraft over the Caspian Sea.

The strike targeted various areas in Ukraine, including the Starokostiantyniv area and the facilities of aircraft engine manufacturer Motor Sich. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, describing it as a "war crime" and emphasized the importance of defeating terrorists. Heavy shelling also continued in eastern Ukraine, causing further casualties and damage.

In a separate incident, a drone attack on Moscow's Vnukovo airport led to the brief suspension of flights. This marked the fourth attack on the Russian capital in a month. The drone was destroyed by air defense systems, but reports suggested that a 77-year-old man sustained a shrapnel wound.

This escalation of hostilities between Russia and Ukraine follows a Ukrainian drone attack on a Russian tanker in the Black Sea near Crimea. The attack on the tanker, which was transporting fuel for Russian forces, was confirmed by an official from Ukraine's Security Service.

The drone, packed with explosives, caused damage to the tanker's engine room but resulted in no casualties among the crew members. These incidents highlight the ongoing conflict between the two nations, with exchanges of attacks and shelling causing casualties and destruction on both sides.

Ukraine has been engaged in a counteroffensive in eastern Ukraine, while Russia continues to retaliate and defend its interests. The situation remains tense, with both sides vowing to respond to any acts of aggression. In addition to the military actions, there are also symbolic movements reflecting the ongoing conflict.

Ukraine replaced the Soviet hammer and sickle, a symbol of the Soviet era, with the tryzub, a three-pronged trident that represents the country's coat of arms. This change is part of a broader effort by Ukraine to reclaim its cultural identity from the Soviet era amid Russia's ongoing invasion. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine shows no signs of abating, with ongoing casualties and damage on both sides.
