Israeli Forces Seize $1.3 Million Cash from Hamas in Ongoing Efforts to Dismantle Group and Rescue Hostages
Israeli soldiers have seized $1.3 million in cash from Hamas operatives in Gaza, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the group and rescue hostages. Talks of extending the ceasefire are underway.
Israeli soldiers operating in the Gaza Strip have confiscated five million shekels (USD 1.3 million) in cash from terror facilities and the homes of Hamas operatives, according to Israel's Defense Ministry. The money, which includes Israeli shekels, US dollars, Jordanian currency, and Iraqi currency, will be counted and deposited in the state coffers. This seizure comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to dismantle Hamas and rescue hostages.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt Gen Herzi Halevi assured troops in Gaza that the war against Hamas would resume following the ceasefire, stating that the IDF will continue operations until all remaining captives are returned. Thirteen Israeli hostages were released by Hamas on Saturday night, and in separate deals, 15 foreign nationals have also been freed since the truce took effect on Friday.
As part of the ceasefire, Israel has released 78 Palestinians jailed for security offenses and permitted the entry of goods and fuel into the Gaza Strip. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has vowed that IDF troops will not leave the enclave until all remaining captives are returned. Talks are currently underway to extend the ceasefire, and further hostage releases are expected.
