Israel Builders Association Filling Urgent Worker Shortage with Thousands of Indian Recruits
Israeli Builders Association recruits thousands of Indian workers to address acute shortage in construction industry. Israeli and Indian government leaders collaborate to facilitate the recruitment process.
A senior executive at the Israel Builders Association announced that a team of selectors from Israel visited India last week and another delegation will leave for India next week to recruit thousands of workers to fill the acute shortage faced by Israel's construction industry. They plan to start the process in Delhi and Chennai and aim to bring in 10,000 workers initially, with the potential to scale up to 30,000 in the future.
The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, discussed with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi the urgent need for more workers in Israel, leaving the decision of where to bring workers from up to the government. The Israeli construction industry is in dire need of workers, as the ongoing war has led to a shortage of workers in specific fields where there is a lack of Israeli workers.
Minister of Economy Nir Barkat has been in discussions about bringing workers from India to fill the need in Israel's infrastructure industry. With an increasing number of Indian workers in Israel, an agreement was inked in May allowing 42,000 Indian workers to work in the Jewish state in the fields of construction and nursing, offering a solution to the rising cost of living and assisting thousands of families waiting for nursing care. This move will address the acute need for workers in Israel's construction industry.
