Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy has announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, bringing a unique ideology and eloquence to the political arena. Born on August 9, 1985, in Cincinnati to Hindu Tamil Brahmin immigrant parents, Ramaswamy grew up attending a Catholic school affiliated with the Jesuit order. He is a devoted Hindu, vegetarian, and fluent in his mother language Tamil.

Ramaswamy co-founded the social networking website Campus Venture Network in 2007 and later founded the biotechnology firm Roivant Sciences in 2014. While he stepped down as the CEO of Roivant Sciences in 2021, he remains its sixth-largest shareholder.

Ramaswamy's political career has been building up for years, as he supported Donald Trump in the 2020 election and made significant political contributions to both Republicans and Democrats.

During his presidential campaign, he has attracted attention for his views on LGBTQ and gender issues, being of the view that there are only two genders and vocal against what he calls the "tyranny of the minority" in forcing children to acknowledge gender variations.

He also proposes raising the voting age from 18 to 25 and has plans to abolish the FBI, Department of Education, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission. In a recent poll, Ramaswamy finds himself tied at second place in the Republican presidential field with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, trailing behind former President Donald Trump.

Pollsters have found somewhat more shaky support among DeSantis supporters compared to Ramaswamy's backers, with more than 80 percent of Trump supporters expressing their definite vote for him. Ramaswamy's rise in the polls can be attributed to improvements among voters with postgraduate degrees and younger voters.

He has garnered support by advocating for the "New American dream" and focusing on building a meritocracy, advocating for free speech, and ending the US' dependence on China. Ramaswamy's political beliefs are summarized by his ten central campaign "truths," which include beliefs in God, two genders, fossil fuels for human flourishing, and the nuclear family as the greatest form of governance.

The Indian-American entrepreneur has also gained praise from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who called him a "very promising candidate." Ramaswamy's candidacy represents a significant opportunity to attract voters of diverse backgrounds to the Republican Party, and he aims to bring them to the polls in droves if chosen as the 2024 GOP nominee.

As Ramaswamy continues to make his mark in the political landscape, his unique ideology and promising candidacy have captured the attention of voters and political observers alike. With his background as an entrepreneur and his focus on key issues such as free speech and ending China's influence, Ramaswamy presents a compelling option for those looking for a fresh perspective in the 2024 presidential election.
