Former Prime Minister Imran Khan's bail plea in the Toshakhana case was approved by the accountability court in Islamabad, bringing relief to the former leader. The court, presided over by Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulaqrnain, granted bail to Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan's wife, until September 12 in connection with the Toshakhana case. However, her bail was accepted on the condition that she provide surety bonds worth 500,000 Pakistani Rupees (PKR). Bushra Bibi has been accused of keeping various valuable items, including a locket, chain, earrings, two rings, and a bracelet from the Toshakhana gifts.

Additionally, she is accused of retaining gold, diamonds, necklaces, and bracelets. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) argues that these gifts were not submitted to the Toshakhana for proper evaluation. The Toshakhana issue has become a significant point of contention in Pakistan's politics, leading to the disqualification of Imran Khan as the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party by the Election Commission of Pakistan. The disqualification was a result of Imran Khan making false statements and incorrect declarations related to the Toshakhana case.

In a separate development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended Imran Khan's conviction and three-year jail sentence in the Toshakhana case. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, made this decision on Imran Khan's appeal against his prison term. The move is particularly significant as it comes just months before the national elections in the country. The trial court in Islamabad had previously convicted Imran Khan in a case filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan, which revolved around concealing details of state gifts. His conviction resulted in a three-year jail sentence and a disqualification from contesting general elections for five years.

Following his conviction, Imran Khan was imprisoned in the Attock Jail in Punjab province. This recent development granting bail to both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi has generated significant attention in the media. The fate of the Toshakhana case and its impact on Pakistani politics will continue to be closely monitored by the public and political observers alike.
