Her victims were between the ages of 14 and 16 and she acknowledged occasionally having multiple boys for sex at the same time. One mother of the victims revealed that Phillips provided alcohol to the boys and manipulated them into sneaking out of their homes for sex. The victims were reportedly unaware of the laws that protect them and were afraid to come forward due to fear of getting into trouble. The former teacher's aide was arrested in April 2023 after two minors came forward and accused her of raping them on three separate occasions.
She is now facing a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison. As a result of her federal guilty plea, state prosecutors are considering dropping charges against her. This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Phillips is scheduled to be sentenced in April.
