Mohamed Al Fayed, the former Harrods boss and father of Dodi Al Fayed who died alongside Princess Diana in a car crash, has passed away at the age of 94. Al Fayed, born in Egypt, made his mark in the business world in the Middle East before moving to the UK in the 1970s. He never obtained British citizenship but went on to achieve great success, acquiring Harrods and Fulham Football Club.

Al Fayed's family released a statement confirming his peaceful passing and expressing gratitude for the impact he had on their lives. Fulham FC, which he owned for many years, also paid tribute to him and praised his contributions to the club's success. Journalist Piers Morgan described him as a "flawed, complex character" but expressed admiration for him. Al Fayed was known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in helping underprivileged and sick children.

He set up the Al Fayed Charitable Foundation to support these causes. His life took a tragic turn when his son Dodi and Princess Diana perished in a car crash in 1997. Al Fayed spent the rest of his life consumed with questions surrounding their deaths. He twice attempted to obtain British citizenship but faced rejection both times.
