Tragedy struck in Russia as a severe storm, described as a hurricane, caused trees to crash into a campsite, resulting in the death of eight people and hospitalization of 10 others.

The incident occurred in Mari El, a Russian region along the northern bank of the Volga River, with the largest city being Yoshkar-Ola. The emergencies ministry reported that nearly 100 rescuers were working to clear debris at the campsite near Lake Yalchik.

It was revealed that vacationers had ignored the weather forecast, leading to the unfortunate outcome. In another report, it was mentioned that eight people, including three small children, lost their lives when trees fell on a lakeside campsite during the same storm.

The campsite, located in the Mari Chodra national park, saw several hundred people camping when the storm struck. The bodies of seven people, including the three children, were discovered after debris was cleared. An additional person died in a hospital.

The emergencies ministry provided details that 29 people were injured and 16 were hospitalized. It was emphasized that the weather forecast was disregarded by the vacationers. Further information highlighted that high winds ravaged central Russia, resulting in the deaths of at least ten people, including three children.

The storm hit the campsite close to Lake Yalchik in the Mari-El region. Strong winds caused numerous trees to fall, including the area where the group's tents were pitched. The regional leader stated that an investigation was launched to determine if the management company responsible for the national park had provided unsafe or sub-standard services.

In a separate incident, multiple buildings in Moscow were hit by drones, causing damage. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Ukraine, although not officially acknowledging the attacks, has been launching cross-border strikes in response to the ongoing conflict with Russian forces. This incident marked the fourth strike on the capital region in the month and the third within the week, highlighting Moscow's vulnerability.
