One person has been killed and six others are missing after a devastating landslide swept through houses in Central Nepal following heavy downpours. In the district of Makwanpur, a woman was tragically pulled alive from the debris but later succumbed to her injuries. The rescue effort is currently underway to find any possible survivors, with authorities working tirelessly to locate the missing individuals. Meanwhile, in the capital city of Kathmandu, the torrential rainfall has caused extensive flooding, submerging temples and rendering roads impassable.

The Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers, along with their tributaries, have overflowed, breaching embankments and inundating residential areas. The overflowing water has disrupted daily life and led to traffic congestion, prompting authorities to issue warnings about further embankment breaches. The city's traffic has been severely affected as corridors running alongside the river embankments have become waterlogged.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has announced that Nepal will continue to experience rainfall for several more days as the monsoon's low-pressure trough remains north of its average position. This prolonged rainfall has caused additional concerns for the country, as the death toll from this year's monsoon season reaches 40. At least 33 people remain missing as landslides and floods continue to wreak havoc across the nation. Major highways have been blocked by massive landslides, leading to transportation disruptions and significant damage to roads. Numerous houses and temples have also been submerged in floodwaters, further adding to the devastation caused by the incessant rain. It is a grim situation for Nepal as it battles against the relentless monsoon rains and their destructive aftermath.

Despite ongoing rescue efforts, the number of casualties continues to rise, and many families anxiously await news of their missing loved ones. The government and humanitarian organizations are working tirelessly to provide assistance to those affected and to mitigate the impact of this natural disaster. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by the floods and landslides, and we hope that the situation improves soon.
