In a devastating terror attack in Pakistan, over 100 kg of explosives were used, resulting in the deaths of 23 soldiers. The attack was carried out by six terrorists linked to Tehrik-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), who rammed an explosive-laden truck into a security post in Dera Ismail Khan. The assault was followed by a series of blasts, causing the building to collapse and resulting in multiple casualties. The TJP, a newly formed militant group affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack. While no arrests have been made, all six terrorists were killed in the engagement.

The Pakistani government has been expressing concerns over the involvement of Afghan nationals in these terrorist attacks. In response to this latest attack, the Foreign Office issued a statement demanding immediate and verifiable actions from the Afghan government against militant outfits supporting terrorism in Pakistan. The government also summoned the Afghan Charge d'Affaires to stress the urgency and gravity of the situation and call for a comprehensive investigation and decisive action against the perpetrators.

Pakistan is demanding action against all terrorist groups and their leadership, as well as the extradition of the perpetrators and leaders of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan from Afghanistan. The continuous use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan is seen as a significant threat to regional peace and stability. In Kabul, the interim Afghan government's chief spokesperson expressed shock at the attack and pledged to investigate. However, he also emphasized that Pakistan should not blame Afghanistan for every issue and should focus on its own security.

He highlighted that the attack occurred in Pakistan's own soil, hundreds of kilometers away from Afghanistan, and asserted that Pakistan has strong security forces that should have been able to thwart such an attack. The attack serves as a grim reminder of the challenges both Pakistan and Afghanistan face in combating terrorism and maintaining regional security. Close cooperation and decisive actions from both countries are crucial to curbing the activities of terrorist groups and ensuring the safety of their citizens.
