U.S. Central Intelligence Agency Director William Burns and his Israeli counterpart are set to meet with Qatari officials in the hopes of brokering a second potential Gaza hostage deal. The meeting is also expected to include Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel, with the aim of facilitating the release of over 100 hostages taken during Hamas' attack on Israel.

The Biden administration has been working to facilitate negotiations to bring an end to the conflict, with Burns playing a key role in the discussions. Israel has proposed a two-month pause in fighting to allow for the phased release of hostages, while Hamas is demanding a permanent ceasefire and the release of all detainees held by Israel as conditions for ending the war. The upcoming talks are seen as a critical opportunity to bridge the gap between the two sides and potentially bring an end to the ongoing conflict.
