China's Premier Renews Warning to US: Politicizing Trade will Wreak Havoc on Global Economy!
China's premier warns US officials against politicizing trade issues, stating it will have a disastrous impact on the global economy and undermine bilateral relations. US Commerce Secretary emphasizes open communication and maintaining commercial relationship during visit to China. Beijing expresses concerns about US trade curbs.
China's premier, Li Qiang, issued a warning to US officials during a meeting with US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo on Tuesday. Li criticized American trade curbs against Beijing, stating that politicizing economic and trade issues will have a disastrous impact on the global economy and undermine bilateral relations and mutual trust. The tensions between the two countries have reached some of their lowest levels in decades, with US trade restrictions being a major point of contention. In response, Raimondo emphasized the importance of open communication between the two powers and expressed the US's intention to maintain its commercial relationship with China.
Raimondo's visit to China is part of the US's efforts to improve its working relationship with its largest strategic rival. On Monday, she and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao agreed to set up a working group to address trade disputes and establish an export control enforcement information exchange to reduce misunderstanding of US national security policies. Beijing, however, expressed serious concerns about Washington's trade curbs, including tariffs, semiconductor policies, investment restrictions, subsidies, and sanctions on Chinese enterprises, warning that these measures could harm global supply chains' security and stability.
