Brussels Airlines Cancels Majority of Flights as Pilots Stage Wildcat Strike, Impacting 14,000 Passengers

Due to a wildcat strike called by pilots, Brussels Airlines will have to cancel the majority of its scheduled flights on Saturday, affecting around 14,000 passengers. The airline regrets the inconvenience caused and is working to notify affected passengers and offer refunds or re-booking options. The pilots are protesting the non-indexation of additional benefits and resistance by the airline to increasing them in line with inflation.

Cabin crew members have also been urged to join the strike to demand a salary increase and better division of labor. Brussels Airlines, owned by Lufthansa and part of the Star Alliance, is working to minimize disruption by re-booking affected passengers on other Lufthansa Group airlines. The airline is calling on the unions to come to the table for further discussions to avoid unnecessary damage to the company.
