The Israel-Hamas war entered its 84th day today, with the conflict showing no signs of slowing down. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the brutal Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of 21,507 Palestinians and the injury of 55,915 others since the conflict erupted on October 7. In the past 24 hours alone, 187 Palestinians were killed, further escalating the already dire situation. The conflict has also spilled over into neighboring Syria and Lebanon, with projectiles fired into the Golan Heights and Israeli forces launching airstrikes in southern Lebanon.

Furthermore, Iran-backed Islamist terror outfits have targeted a US military base in Syria, and a New Jersey man has been arrested for plotting a violent attack on the US in response to the Oct 7 attacks. In Gaza, witnesses reported Israeli forces targeting areas where residents had already been displaced, leading to further devastation and civilian casualties. The situation has led to a mass exodus from the area, with thousands of Palestinians fleeing to the southernmost tip of Gaza in search of safety. Reports also emerged of a heavily pregnant woman forced to walk 5 kilometers in search of shelter, ultimately giving birth to quadruplets under extremely challenging circumstances.

In the midst of the conflict, accusations have been made against Israel, including the firing on a UN aid convoy and the targeting of civilian infrastructure, such as hospitals. The situation has also sparked international efforts, with Egypt proposing a ceasefire in Gaza and Israel giving preliminary approval to Cyprus for a humanitarian corridor to deliver aid to the region.

Amid the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis, the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has received the second tranche of $2.5 million from India, fulfilling its annual commitment of $5 million for 2023-24. However, the dire situation continues to worsen, with Gazans struggling to access daily necessities and the death toll rising, especially among women and children. The conflict shows no signs of abating, and as the international community grapples with how to address the crisis, the people of Gaza continue to bear the devastating impact of the prolonged war between Israel and Hamas.
