Three militants killed, one caught alive in South Kashmir

Militants fired at an army convoy ensuing an encounter, capturing of militant and death of a soldier.
A gunfight ensued between militants and government forces at Bounigam area of Qazigund in South Kashmir's Kulgam district. An army convoy was coming from Jammu towards Srinagar when militants attacked the convoy. Three army men received bullet injuries.
After the attack, the militants fled and took shelter in a private school building. A joint team of defense forces carried out operations to trace the hiding militants. "In the operation, three militants are killed. A militant in injured condition has also been arrested," Director General of Police (DGP) Dr S P Vaid said on Tuesday morning.
The militant captured has been identified as Rashid Ahmed Allai of Hamzapora Sangam Bijibehera. He was arrested from Janglatmandi maternity hospital carrying a Chinese pistol and live cartridges. He was missing since last two days from his house and had joined the Yawar group of Lashkar-e-Toiba.
During the operations, three soldiers were injured and one of them succumbed to his injuries.

The police said that Yawar was part of the militant group when they carried out attack on army at Qazigund but managed to escape from the site when the final encounter broke. He had taken shelter at the hospital in Anantnag with the help of one of his associates. The police said that the group headed by Furkan, was involved in a series of terror crimes in Anantnag and Kulgam areas of south Kashmir, which included the Yatra Bus attack case at Bantingo, attacks on security forces at Lower Munda on the national highway and attack on police at bus stand in Anantnag. Furkan had replaced Ismail in South Kashmir and was responsible for the recent attacks carried by LeT, police said
