India's human trafficking crimes: Interview with Amod K. Kanth, Former DGP

Every year the cases of human trafficking in India increase. Why is the police and other institutions not able to contain the issue?

According to the National Crime Records bureau, more than 8000 cases of human trafficking were reported in 2016.

Victims of human trafficking suffer severe mental and physical health problems. Trafficked men, women and children worldwide are considered modern day slaves .

Why is the police not able to bring down the numbers of human trafficking? What are the challenges one faces to solve the issue?

We spoke with Mr. Amod Kanth the former DGP and currently the general secretary of Prayas juvenile aid centre and we tried to seek answers to some of these questions.
