Woman Sells House for Facelift Surgery and Never Looked Back
A US woman sold her house to finance her facelift surgery, choosing to live in a van instead of a 3BHK apartment. She believes the procedure improved her looks and aims to break the stigma surrounding plastic surgery.
In a society that often sets unrealistic standards of beauty, many women resort to cosmetic procedures and surgeries to enhance their appearance. One woman in the US took this obsession to the extreme by selling her three-bedroom house to finance her facelift surgery, according to a report by the New York Post. Now, she lives full-time in a van, using it to travel across the country.
Although unconventional, she has no regrets about her decision as she feels it has significantly improved her looks. Meet Kelly Beasley, a 50-year-old blogger who opted for a facelift surgery costing $14,000 (approximately Rs 11 lakh) after she noticed her face sagging rapidly.
Over the years, Beasley had been getting Botox treatments since her late 20s and fillers for the past 15 years. However, when she felt these procedures were no longer yielding visible results, she decided to take more drastic measures. In February this year, Beasley traveled to Mexico for the surgery, which involved taking fat from her thighs and injecting it into her lips and face.
The entire procedure cost her $14,000 but she firmly believes it has taken 20 years off her appearance. After wearing a “face bra for two weeks post-surgery, she has fully recovered and claims to look even better than she did in her 30s. “The results exceeded my expectations. I didn’t anticipate looking younger. I love my new look and feel fabulous," Beasley exclaimed.
Her hope is that by sharing her story, the stigma surrounding plastic surgery will diminish. She wants society to understand that judging those who have cosmetic procedures as vain or insecure is unfair. Likewise, labeling those who choose not to undergo such treatments as having “let themselves go" due to lack of makeup or styled hair is equally unjust.
The transformative power of cosmetic procedures is evident in Beasley’s case. Although she made a bold decision to sell her house and live in a van, she is pleased with the outcome. Through her journey, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their choices without shame, whether it involves plastic surgery or embracing natural beauty.
In a world where societal pressures can be overwhelming, it is important to remember that each person has the autonomy to make decisions about their own appearance. Beasley’s story serves as a reminder that self-confidence and personal happiness should be our utmost priorities, and it is up to us to define what beauty means to ourselves.
