In the midst of communal clashes in Haryana, the United States has called for peace and urged all parties involved to refrain from violence. The US State Department spokesperson, Matthew Miller, made this statement during a routine press briefing on August 2.

When asked about the Hindu-Muslim clashes in the region, Miller emphasized the importance of maintaining calm and avoiding violent actions. He also stated that there have been no reports of any American citizens being affected by the clashes, but he would follow up with the embassy for further information.

The clashes began on Monday during a rally organized by the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Nuh, resulting in six fatalities and numerous injuries. On Tuesday, a mosque was allegedly burned down in Gurgaon, and a naib imam was killed.

The US State Department's appeal for peace and non-violence reflects concerns over the escalating situation in Haryana. In a separate development, the US State Department spokesperson also responded to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's comments on talks with India.

Miller affirmed the US's stance in advocating for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan. As tensions continue to rise in the affected districts of Haryana, the local government has taken steps to strengthen security. School and college closures have been implemented in light of recent incidents of violence.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has pledged that no accused individuals will be spared, emphasizing the importance of justice for the victims and their families. In efforts to maintain law and order and ensure peace and security, the state government has relocated the battalion headquarters of the 2nd India Reserve Battalion (IRB) from the police complex Bhondsi to Nuh district.

Currently, six deaths have been reported in connection with the violence, including two Home Guards. Additionally, 116 individuals have been arrested, and 90 have been detained according to the Haryana government. To maintain order, paramilitary forces conducted a flag march in Nuh on Thursday.

As the situation remains tense, the United States' call for calm and non-violence serves as a reminder of the importance of peaceful resolution in times of turmoil.
