A fire on board a car carrier ship off the coast of the Netherlands has resulted in the evacuation of 23 crew members, with one person confirmed dead and several others injured.
The Dutch coastguard received a call in the early hours of Wednesday reporting a fire on the Fremantle Highway, a Panamanian-registered ship carrying 3,000 vehicles.
Despite the crew's efforts to extinguish the fire, it continues to rage on board and the ship is listing. Salvage vessels are attempting to put out the flames and prevent the ship from sinking. The cause of the fire is believed to be an electric vehicle.
